Founded at the turn of the millennium, Manduka® has always been a company that put its customers and the environment above all else. Peter Sterios, an architect turned yogi, stumbled upon a simple, yet elegantly created mat that completely revolutionized the way he practiced yoga. This revelation was the inspiration for the whole Manduka yoga line.
Sterios' creation would not have been possible without the help of his generous yoga teachers. As a form of appreciation he sent a mat to many of the yoga teachers he admired including Rod Stryker, Erich Schiffmann, Victor Van Kooten, Angela Farmer, Rodney Yee, and Shiva Rea. As a traditional practice in yoga, these teachers shared these mats with their students and from there the word spread.
Manduka, derived from the Hatha Yoga Pradipika pose, Mandukasana, is named as a tribute to Sterios' yoga mentor, Shandor Remete. The delight he took in hearing the word roll of his tongue helped him solidify the faith he had in his new company. From there the joy has spread to over 35 countries worldwide.

I absolutely love this mat tote. It fits every size mat. It has a built in strap to wrap your mat in place. And there's plenty of room for shoes, towel, extra clothes, tons of compartments. Quality is excellent. It's also weather proof. I bought it in the powder blue and it's gorgeous. Just have to be careful not to put it on floor as this color is light and easily gets dirty. But it's very easy to wash and washes well. The shoulder straps are long so that it doesn't sit under armpits and so that mat will stick out of the tote but not in your way at all. Highly recommend this bag. I can't but it down. It also brings an extra removable strap and a cute little make bag that is not attached to the bag.

I have been eyeing this bag for awhile since I can use it for the gym, yoga, and also traveling! You can stow your yoga mat in this bag since it has a expandable strap to hold any size yoga mat. Two deep and large pockets to hold a change of clothes, shoes, and even a yoga mat towel. There is room for your water bottle and snacks. There is a large zippered pocket you can stow your phone, wallet, and other needed necessities. There is another zippered pocket on the back of the bag and the front has a open pocket for hands free mobility while its around your shoulders. So if you don't like your keys and phone inside your purse, you can have them there. The fold over style will protect whatever is in it if you don't have your yoga mat inside or if you pack the inside zippered pocket too high. The straps are sturdy and wide, very comfortable. The straps for the zippers are sturdy and they won't rip off or untangle if you pull them. The fabric is luxurious and soft. Great bag to use if it's raining. The blue color is nice and different. The change purse is big and can fit makeup, double as a wallet, great for holding various cables for electronics and other miscellaneous things. I have noticed this bag is not friendly with puncture marks, but they can be mended. Spot treatment is a must with this bag especially if you happen to have a little mark from ink or any type of stain.
